The Mind Behind our CEFA schools

The Mind Behind our CEFA schools

Natacha Veronika Beim knew she wanted to be a teacher since she was old enough to realize what being a teacher meant. She was two years old. Her purpose was simple: to share with others how magical learning can be.

What she dreamed of after her first day of preschool is still what drives her today: A passion for making learning amazing for others (children, teachers, parents) and for helping them find and give the best of themselves.

After working as an elementary school teacher, Beim specialized in the early years, and traveled the world working in different countries and studying different early learning methodologies. Beim believes that exposing young children to early learning not only appeals to the child’s natural desire to learn and explore, but also stimulates brain development at a crucial time in a child’s development.

Beim went on to develop her own early learning methodology, one that would be exactly what children needed at every stage of their development in order to stimulate their intellect and maximize the window of learning. She developed her own method for teaching children to read and write, based on best practices worldwide. She also created a S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering and math) for children younger than six, and developed games and activities to implement it at CEFA. From the start, Beim designed her curriculum to include a heavy component of art, including drama, visual arts, dance amongst other activities, in addition to academic activities. Beim carefully constructed the curriculum to ensure that all activities were presented either as games or projects, always interesting to children.

To this day, Natacha Beim’s favorite activity at CEFA is to visit the classrooms and observe the children at play, while she thinks of other games to introduce, and other ways to enhance the learning opportunities for her now thousands of CEFA students. She has dedicated more than twenty-five years to the early years particularly, and continues to research different approaches to teaching.

Natacha Beim felt a sense of purpose from a very young age, and now with her schools, instills in her students a sense of belonging to their community, and a desire to make a difference, which students carry with them their whole lives.

After opening her first school in 1998 in West Vancouver, Canada, Beim agreed to allow the parents and teachers of her students of her school to open other CEFA schools, following her exact methodology. Today, there are close to 30 CEFA schools, all working together to make a difference in children’s lives when it matters most: the first five years.

In addition to her roles at CEFA, Beim served for five years, including one as President, on the Board of the Entrepreneurs Organization, a global business network representing some 9,500 business owners. She is also a member of the prestigious YPO organization (

Beim has been recognized with the Women of Worth (WOW) Empowered Educator Award. She is a four-time YWCA Woman of Distinction finalist, and received the Women of Distinction Award in 2015 for Education and Training. a finalist for EY Entrepreneur Of The YearTM 2014 Pacific, and Business in Vancouver’s 2011 Top Forty Under 40 Entrepreneur. Natacha was also appointed to British Columbia’s Provincial Child Care Council by the Minister of Children and Family Development, where she has served for the past five years.

In addition, CEFA won the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Biggest BC Business owned by women; top Franchise in BC yearly since 2013, and ranked top 10 in BC Fastest Growing Companies for 8 years consecutively.

Beim strongly believes in the power of a well-rounded education. A published poet at the young age of 16, Beim speaks three languages, and counts many accomplishments, including teacher, ballerina, model, journalist, painter, writer, theatre actress, and marathon runner. While she still devotes time to many of these interests, her passion now lies in helping the next generation of young learners through her CEFA schools.

Beim’s progressive view on education and incredible passion for life, have made her a fascinating speaker, enriching parents and educators alike. She resides in Vancouver, Canada, with her two sons.
